Traumatic Femoral Arteriovenous Fistula, Associated with False Aneurysm

Abstract
A case of Traumatic arteriovenous fistula, associated with false aneurysm, treated at the Kwang Ju Christian Hospital is reported.
The cause of the injury was a stab wound. The false aneurysm and arteriovenous fistula developed about 7 months after injury, and the patient remained without specific therapy for 7 years.
Upon admission a large egg sized, pulsating mass, on the left upper thigh was noted and intermittent claudication of the letf lower leg, intractable multiple skin ulcerations, and swelling of the left leg, a Grade II systolic murmur at the cardiac apex, and Branham¢¥s sign were present. However cardiomegaly and pulmonary congestion were absent.
On the 6th hospital day surgical repair by aneurysmectomy, lateral suture of the femoral vein, and end to end anastomosis of the femoral artery, was performed.
Immediate post operative results were good. The left lower leg swelling, ulceration and .systolic heart murmur disappeared.
On the 9th post operative day the patient was discharged.
